Welcoming

Whether you were born and raised Catholic, are a recent convert, are interested in learning more about Catholicism, or simply want to meet new people, the CSA invites you to come as you are. Through both faith and fellowship, we welcome everyone into our community as we strive to build God's Kingdom through both personal growth and a richer understanding of the Catholic Faith.

Spiritual

Knowing God lies at the core of Catholicism, and what better way is there to know Him than through the Sacraments? By praising Him at Mass on Sundays, spending time with Him during the week at weekday Mass, receiving His forgiveness through Reconciliation, praying to Him, and being in the real presence of his Son, Jesus, at Adoration, we grow closer to God and His Son.

Active

God made humans to know Him, love Him, serve Him, and be with one another. By balancing service projects, retreats, small groups, and prayer with movie nights, dinners, and other social outings, we enact God's mission for us, and have fun, too!

CSA Rice Retreat

The Catholic Student Association (CSA) is a Catholic Christian faith community in the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston. We are a small, diverse, and constantly changing community, composed of Catholic students of Rice University and the schools of the Texas Medical Center and faculty and staff who choose to make the CSA their faith community.

The mission of the CSA is

  • to provide varied opportunities for the students to grow in the knowledge and practice of their faith, especially through the celebration of liturgy
  • to create a welcoming environment which fosters human and Christian development
  • to encourage a spirit of mutual support in Christian community and outreach in service to the larger community
